Valve's July 8, 2026 Season 5 update closed the Armory redemption path for four collections: the Train 2025 Collection, the Sport & Field Collection, and the Sugarface 2 and Elemental Craft sticker sets. You can no longer spend Armory Credits to redeem any of them. Two new weapon collections, Arabesque and Spy Tech, took their place, along with two sticker sets, Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing. Cache also returned to the Active Duty map pool, replacing Overpass, and the bomb explosion model got reworked into an expanding shockwave that dissipates around corners instead of dealing flat instant damage through walls. None of that changes how you trade. The Armory rotation does.
What actually left, and what didn't
Train 2025 (16 weapon skins, added March 31, 2025) and Sport & Field (16 weapon skins, added October 2, 2024) are gone from the Armory Pass menu. That's the only thing that changed. The skins themselves still exist. Every copy already redeemed is still yours, still tradeable, still listable on the Steam Market or through SkinsWave. What's closed is the one acquisition path Valve controlled directly: spending 4 Armory Credits, about $1.70 worth of pass progress, to pull a random skin from either collection's pool.
That distinction matters because "removed from the Armory" gets reported the same way as a CS:GO case retirement, and it isn't the same thing. A retired case takes its entire supply mechanism offline for good. An Armory rotation only closes the credit-redemption door. If either collection stays in the weekly item drop pool, and Valve doesn't publish that list anywhere reliable, copies can keep entering circulation through ordinary play. Treat "last chance, buy now" framing from other sites with that in mind.
How Valve actually announces these
Nobody found out about this rotation from the patch notes. The heads-up came from the @CounterStrike account on X in April, about three months before the actual removal, listing exactly which collections and stickers were leaving under a line that read: not mentioned in the release notes. The precedent from the prior rotation, when the Gallery Case and Character Craft stickers left in October 2025, ran about three weeks between announcement and cutoff. This time Valve gave much longer notice, then said nothing further until Season 5 actually shipped.
If you want to catch the next rotation before it happens, the patch notes are the wrong place to watch. Valve doesn't put Armory removals there. The social account is currently the only reliable early signal, and it's worth a follow if you hold or want to hold pass-exclusive skins.
The Armory math, for context
An Armory Pass costs $15.99 on top of Prime status, if you don't already have it, and grants your first credit immediately on purchase. After that you earn roughly one credit per 300 XP, about 10 rounds of competitive play, up to a weekly soft cap near 11,167 XP, past which gains drop to roughly a sixth of the normal rate. That cap resets every Wednesday. You can run up to five passes at once for five times the credit income, topping out at 200 credits per cycle. A weapon skin pull costs 4 credits. Community-tracked odds put Consumer and Industrial Grade results around 79% of pulls, Mil-Spec around 15 to 16%, Restricted 3 to 4%, Classified about 1%, and Covert around 0.26%. No knives come out of the Armory at any tier.
Run that math and a reliable Covert pull from either retired collection cost real money and real playtime to chase, likely in the hundreds of dollars in pass spend once you account for the misses along the way. That's the actual cost basis buyers are weighing against current market listings for Train 2025 or Sport & Field Coverts now that the credit path is closed.
What to actually do with this
Don't assume a skin is scarce just because a headline calls it a last chance. Check what's actually listed. Pull up current Steam Market and third-party listings for the specific piece you want before deciding a price is fair, and if you're already holding pieces from either retired collection, run your inventory through SkinsWave's profile value checker to see what it's worth today instead of guessing off a price you remember from months ago. If you're trading pieces from Train 2025 or Sport & Field, SkinsWave handles instant bot trades and P2P listings the same way it does for any other collection, retired or not.
Closing the redemption door doesn't create scarcity by itself. What matters is whether the supply already in circulation is enough to meet demand from people who missed the window, and that's a question the market answers over the following weeks, not the day the patch drops.
